Laptops were first used in 1981 and since have become one of the best inventions of our time. Even though some people take Laptops for granted they are a very important part of life today. They allow you to do more than ever before in less time, and that’s a main reason why they are the best invention today. They can be useful at home and on the go, great for students, and have more uses than a desktop computer. Laptops speed up work, cut time, have many different uses and make new opportunities easier to do.
To begin, Laptops are convenience helpful to many different occupations, and are even a necessity to some. “If your family utilizes the computer mainly for word processing and internet use, a laptop might be a practical choice.” (1. “Buying a laptop vs. a desktop”) Even in some places like in the office where it would be important. If you’re not finished doing your job for that day you can take your computer home and finish it there. Even when you’re going to lunch or in a business meeting your laptops is needed to do all those different types of work.
One other reason that laptops are a great invention is that now they can do as much as a regular desktop computer does. “You can do pretty much the same stuff on a desktop computer that you can on a laptop, provided you have the right software and hardware.” (2.“Pros and Cons of Laptops”) Besides being able to take it around with you it can be used at home just like a regular computer can be and be just as useful. So if you’re just at home for the day and you need to finish up something from work you can multitask while waiting for something to cook or while watching T.V.
In addition, Laptops have now made it easier to shop or go to school without leaving your house. Now people can go to college without being on campus by taking an online course, or they can use it as a tool to study. Notebook Computer for College - Can be carried to class or library for note-taking, study, etc. (3. “Desktop vs. Notebook”) People can do miscellaneous things like shopping or reading the news. In addition stores have special sales online to encourage people to buy up certain things, also if you don’t have one of their stores in your area you can still buy from that store.
Conversely, some people have many concerns about the laptop because of different reasons. People have concerns about the security of the laptops because it seems to be getting easier for people to steal people’s identity and their other personal information. Also it might not match up in memory to a desktop computer. Finally, people might not even want to buy a computer because some people misuse it or maybe because some people think that it’s not safe enough to use.
Therefore laptops have made it much easier to go to school, work, and just doing everyday things. It adds mobility to a regular computer while still being able to do everything a desktop computer does. So in my eyes a laptop would be one of the greatest inventions since it came out over 30 years ago.
